TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
I was born in Louisiana but moved to the Dallas area at a young age where I lived until I graduated from high school. After high school I went to the University of Florida and graduated in finance. After college, I decided that I wanted to return to Texas, moved to Houston and have lived here for over a year and a half. When I am not at the gym you can usually find me at an Astros game.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT AND WHAT TIMES DO YOU ATTEND? WHAT MADE YOU START?
I started CrossFit in 2015 at a box in Gainesville while I was in college after talking to some of my family that were CrossFitters. Although I was apprehensive at first to try CrossFit (my first coach had to call and convince me to come back after my free trial), after three years I can’t imagine life without it.

I usually am at the 5:30 P.M. class, although when work gets busy you can find me at the 6:30 A.M. class. You can also find me at the Saturday 9:00 A.M. class and at Open Gym on Sunday.

WHAT ARE YOUR CROSSFIT GOALS? (one short-term goal, one long-term goal)
Short-Term Goal: Double-Unders.
Long-term Goal: To be able to RX every workout.

WHAT IMPACT HAS CROSSFIT AND LIVE OAK HAD ON YOUR LIFE IN AND OUT OF THE GYM? WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU SEEN IN YOUR OVERALL HEALTH AND FITNESS LEVEL SINCE STARTING?
I feel much healthier now than before I started CrossFit and have a lot more energy. My confidence has also increased dramatically as a result of CrossFit. Live Oak in particular has drastically changed my life. When I first moved to Houston, I didn’t know anybody other than family that lived out in the suburbs. By joining Live Oak, I have made so many friends that I look forward to seeing everyday. The community at Live Oak is what makes it a great place, and I would be surprised if you could find a place like it anywhere else.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CROSSFIT WORKOUT/MOVEMENTS?
Deadlift

WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE CROSSFIT WORKOUT/MOVEMENTS?
Due to my shoulder mobility issues, anything that is overhead related.

WHAT IS ONE FUN THING OR TALENT ABOUT YOU THAT WE MAY NOT KNOW YET?
My first haircut made the front page of the Lafayette newspaper.

LASTLY… WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO THOSE JUST STARTING OUT IN CROSSFIT?
Take it one day at a time and only compete against yourself. You will have good days and bad days, but the key is to be consistent and work on improving yourself each day. When I first started CrossFit, I couldn’t squat the bar, but recently I squatted 205. So, while it may seem impossible at first, hard work will pay off and you will be able to do anything you put your mind to.
